Research Grant for Master's degree holder on the CRISEA research project

A call for applications is currently open, from May 21 to June 4 of 2018, to award 1 (one) Research Fellowship (BI) (a), within the framework of Project “CRISEA – Competing Regional Integrations in Southeast Asia” (ID 770562), developed at the Centre for Public Administration and Public Policies (CAPP), in collaboration with the Orient Institute (IO), of Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas (ISCSP), from Universidade de Lisboa (Ulisboa), with the financial support of European funds H2020.

Scientific area: Anthropology

Admission Requirements:
Applicants must demonstrate that meet the following requirements cumulatively:

  • Master’s degree in Anthropology;
  • A scientific curriculum showing high merit;
  • Proven international experience in qualitative research in the territory of East Timor.

Work plan:
Research tasks in a project involving 13 international institutions. Assistance of the Portuguese research team, particularly on the identification of field contacts in East Timor and main documents involved on ASEAN application, and development of a database; support on the elaboration of an interview script to be applied to selected actors and recording and transcription of these interviews. The work plan includes field work in East Timor.

Work Place:
The work plan will be carried out majorly at the Centre for Public Administration and Public Policies (CAPP), at Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas (ISCSP), and in the country being studied in the research project, under the scientific supervision of Professor Paulo Castro Seixas.


Grant Fellowship:
The Grant will have a four month duration, starting on the 1st of July, 2018, which may be renewed up to the maximum period provided in Article 7 of the Regulation for Research Fellowships of Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P. – 2018.

Fellowship Monthly Allowance :
The monthly allowance is €980, according to the current table of fellowship values directly attributed by FCT, I.P. in the country (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.en). To the value of monthly allowance will be added payment of charges resulting from contributions to the first level of the Voluntary Social Insurance Scheme, as referred in article 36º of Decreto-Lei nº 40/89, of February 1st, whose adherence is of the exclusive responsibility of the Research fellow.

Selection Method:
The selection method will include a curricular evaluation (75%) and an interview (25%).

I. The curricular evaluation will be considered according to the following formula:

  1. Academic curriculum of the applicant (50%)
  2. Previous duly proven experience in qualitative research in East Timor (25%)

II. Interview (25%);

Applications must be mandatorily formalized through an application letter with procedure identification, accompanied by the following documents: a) Detailed curriculum vitae; b) Certificate of qualifications, with proof of grades in each discipline; c) Documents proving experience in previous research field work in East Timor c) other documents considered relevant by the applicant.
