Helena Marujo and Miguel Pereira Lopes publish a new paper in the Journal of Political Power
Organizational compassion is the theme of a new article published by CAPP researchers in the Journal of Political Power.
In the research just published, Maria Araújo (ISCSP), Ace Simpson (University of Technology Sydney), Helena Marujo (CAPP/ISCSP) and Miguel Pereira Lopes (CAPP/ISCSP) interviewed 32 professionals coming from different portuguese institutional settings to find out what they understand as "organizational compassion". Based on the findings, the authors suggest a distinction between the concepts of "selfless compassion" and "strategic compassion", thus allowing for an analysis based on Jürgen Habermas' dialectic of lifeworld and system.
The article "Selfless and strategic, interpersonal and institutional: a continuum of paradoxical organizational compassion dimensions" is available on the website of the Journal of Political Power.
Helena Marujo is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences, Universidade de Lisboa. He is the current portuguese representative at the European Academy of Management (EURAM). The researcher received recently an honorable mention at the Universidade de Lisboa/CGD Science Awards.
