Paulo Seixas, Nuno Canas Mendes and Nadine Lobner publish a new paper on the Journal of Current Southeast Asian Affairs
Paulo Castro Seixas, Nuno Canas Mendes and Nadine Lobner are the authors of a recent publication in the Journal of Current Southeast Asian Affairs.
In “The “Readiness” of Timor-Leste: Narratives about the Admission Procedure to ASEAN”, Paulo Castro Seixas, Nuno Canas Mendes and Nadine Lobter present a review of 48 international journals on the admission process of East-Timor in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The authors found a main narrative which was replicated by different authors, built around the readiness of East-Timor in becoming an ASEAN member - despite the delay in the process of membership. The article raises the possibility that East-Timor plays the role of an identity test for ASEAN.
The paper is available online.
