Faust Amaro awarded Honorary Doctorate by the Brazilian Academy of Philosophy
The Academia Brasileira de Filosofia [Brazilian Academy of Philosophy] will award the researcher and former President of the Centre for Administration and Public Policies, Prof. Doctor Fausto Amaro, with an Honorary Degree on December 8.
The title will be given by the President of the Brazilian Academy of Philosophy, Jean-Yves Béziau, in a ceremony that will take place at 18h at Casa Histórica de Osório, Rua Riachuelo, 303.Centro, Rio de Janeiro.
The Brazilian Academy of Philosophy was founded in 1989 with the objective of defending, promoting and preserving the memory and philosophical culture of Brazil, of its members and of the leading thinkers in different areas of expertise. The institution organizes philosophical events of national and international scope.
A former President of the Centre for Public Administration and Public Policies, Fausto Amaro is a retired Full Professor at ISCSP (Universidade de Lisboa) and President of Escola Superior de Saúde Atlântica. With a PhD and Aggregation in Sociology, he is one of the editors of Criminologia e Reinserção Social (2019) and several other books in Sociology of the Family. In 2017, he was one of the specialists invited to join the Monitoring Committee of the mental health of the population affected by the fires that broke out in Portugal.
