5th Lusophone Congress on Human Resources Management and Public Administration

The 5th Lusophone Congress on Human Resources Management and Public Administration was held at ISCSP, on 14 and 15 November.

The event brought together researchers and professionals to debate the "Lusophone style" of management. The theme for this edition was Administration and Management in the 21st Century: Challenges and Opportunities. Organized by the Centre for Public Administration and Public Policies, the event’s objective was to promote the debate and research on Human Resources Management in Public Administration.

On this fifth edition, a total of 330 participants were present, from countries such as Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and Italy. A total of 97 speakers presented 62 papers prepared by 113 authors. The journal Public Sciences and Policies, published by the Centre for Public Administration and Public Policies, will publish a special edition with the best work presented at the congress.

The collective work “Great thinkers of management”, coordinated by Miguel Pereira Lopes, Patrícia Palma and Rosa Geremias was lauched on the first day of the event. The book provides an analysis of different approaches, both past and present, on the construction of critical thinking in management that is able to add value to current management practices and thus open the way to rethink adopted management styles. The book will be available from Edições ISCSP.
