The People, Organisations and Work Management Research Group brings together researchers who study the challenges of managing people and work in organisational contexts in both the private and public sectors, providing relevant research on people management policies and work environments. Simultaneously, it informs policymakers on public training and labour policies. The interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers in management, sociology, psychology, and economics enhances the objectives of this research group. This research group aims to provide a driving perspective on the development of human resource management policies and their varied environments, contributing to the knowledge, understanding and social consequences of implementing and managing public labour policies.

Its research centres on:

01. Sustainability and Social Responsibility: the sustainable management of people and organisations involves policies and practices that can have an impact on organisational results. The research carried out focuses on understanding the strategies that organisations adopt with a view to balanced organisational and social growth, aligned with principles of social responsibility, sustainability, and innovation. The impact that organisational dynamics have on the dignity and humanisation of the relationships established between the different stakeholders are among the themes that have been studied.

02. Decent Work and Healthy Working Environments: the factors that determine job stability, the consequences of atypical employment on entering the labour market, attracting, and keeping a job, career progression and the individual and interpersonal processes associated with the health and well-being of individuals in the workplace are some of the topics examined by the researchers. Their research has thus contributed to the definition of inclusion, diversity, and health policies in organisations with the aim of (in)shaping public policies.

03. Organisational Behaviour: researchers study the intricate social exchanges that take place in organisational contexts. Their focal points cover key topics including work motivation, organisational commitment, personal engagement, ethics, and leadership. The results of research in these fields are important not only for understanding these fundamental organisational dynamics, but also for informing the formulation and evaluation of policies aimed at skills development.

04. Digital Transformations of Work: studies are carried out on the challenges of digital transformation for the sustainability of work, highlighting the various formats of face-to-face and distance work. This includes studies looking at the effect of digitalisation on job satisfaction, productivity and organisational dynamics. The aim is to identify new challenges and propose solutions for a workforce that is more agile and adaptable to the digital age.
